Reynolds Aluminum had a problem. They were the largest employer in
the area, with the highest paying wages for some very labor intensive
jobs. Fearing law suits based on personal injury, they wanted to restrict
who could be assigned to these jobs without being accused of discrimination
in any way.
The solution was to carry out extensive pre-employment testing on
all new employees to ensure they were both physically and mentally
capable of performing the high risk jobs.
To do this screening involved extensive site data collection, detailed
work flow analysis, development and evaluation of training courses
and job screening aids for staff.
The result was a significant reduction in discrimination lawsuits
and medical liability exposure, with potential savings to the client
running into the millions of dollars.
